When Will Life Return to Normal

During the early months of 2020, Covid-19 traveled around the world, infecting millions of people along the way. The covid cases kept rising and so did the fear in the U.S. citizens. At the time, I did not think that it was going to be a big deal. I was a senior in high school who was worried about his regional basketball game, not people getting sick. I remember talks of a lockdown, but I was never one to believe them. That all changed when my team and I got on the bus and started on our way to regionals. We were all excited to win our first regional in school history and the energy on the bus was through the roof. Until it wasn't. Our coach got a phone call and turned around and looked at us and said "It's over." My basketball career was over, high school was over, and life as I knew it was over. It was probably one of the more sad days of my life because I had looked forward to winning regionals, senior prom, and graduation all my life. It was all taken away from me in an instant. Covid put a bitter end to my high school career and made me look forward to college.

College was not what I expected and I believe that Covid-19 played a role in that as well. I was ready for the college parties, tail gates, and sporting events, but none of that was allowed last year. No fans were allowed at any sporting events and if you were caught having a party you could be suspended. I found myself going to class and going straight back to my dorm. It took a toll on me mentally. I like to go out and meet new people and socialize at large gatherings, but I wasn't allowed to do any of that. I spent so much time in my dorm that I began to hate Purdue. I felt trapped and just wanted to get out of there and that is when I decided to transfer to PNW.

I am now a sophomore at PNW with hopes of having a good school year. We still have to wear a mask everywhere we go, but I am excited that we are all back on campus. I really hope that there are intramurals this year because my friends and I have been looking to join a team. I have already met a handful of people in the first week of classes and am excited to meet more. I just really hope that the pandemic slows down and life can return to normal. Covid-19 has already affected us enough.

Finishing Strong

It is crazy that finals are next week and we are already in the last week of classes. I feel like the semester flew by. With that...
