Thanksgiving Break

I am really excited to be on Thanksgiving break right now. I really enjoy hanging out with friends and family and this break gives me a great opportunity to do that. Tonight I will be going to watch my old high school coach's game with a couple of my friends. It will be a good time to catch up with him since I have not seen him in awhile. Then I will be going out with my friends. On Thanksgiving day, I go to my grandmas to eat and watch football all day. I love it because it is so relaxing. I am really looking forward to the pasta, mashed potatoes, and all of the other sides. I am not a big turkey guy.

This year, I am also playing football with my friends. Once on Thanksgiving morning and possibly again on Saturday. My good friend plays every year on Thanksgiving, and asked me if I wanted to play this year. I am usually sleeping on Thanksgiving morning, so I thought why not. Some of my other friends are playing on Saturday as well. I am not sure if I will be participating in that game because I might go down to Purdue this weekend. Either way, I'm sure I'll have a good time and I am really looking forward to this break.

Notre Dame Game

"Here come the Irish" is what I will be hearing this weekend. This upcoming Saturday a couple of my friends and I are heading to Notre Dame to watch their game vs. Georgia Tech. I am very excited because I have not been to a Notre Dame football game in years. It was so long ago that I barely even remember it. My brother, on the other hand, is a huge ND fan and has been to multiple games in his life. According to him the games are crazy. The Irish are also ranked 8th in the country and are fighting for a College Football Playoff spot, so I expect there will be a lot of energy in the crowd. The tailgate before the game is also something I am looking forward to. I am sure a Notre Dame tailgate looks a lot different when you are in college.

A good friend of mind goes to school right next to Notre Dame, so we plan on meeting up with him as well. It'll me nice catching up with him because I haven't seen him as much since he went away to college. It will also be nice to have someone who is familiar with the area and has some friends down there. Most likely we will end up going out at night and crashing at his place. Should be a fun day in South Bend!

Chicago Bulls...LCYB Team

As you might know from some of my previous blogs, basketball is something that I am very passionate about. I played it all of my life, and sometimes I regret not playing in college. I actually could have played here at PNW, but that is another story. A buddy of mine volunteered to coach a middle school LCYB basketball team. LCYB stands for Lake Central Youth Basketball. He asked me right away if I wanted to help him coach because he knew I had played the game for a long time. At first, I was hesitant because I hadn't really coached a team before. Also, they play on the weekends and I love to watch college and NFL football. All that being said, I decided to help him coach and so far it has been a great decision. Teaching these kids how to play basketball has actually been something that has made me happy. Watching them get better each day is also very cool. We have only had a couple practices, so I cannot wait to see where the kids are at the end of the season. As of right now we are 2-0 and have a couple of more games this weekend. Really hoping the team plays well!

Experiential Learning Project Reflection

The experiential learning project was one of my first group projects in college. I have mixed emotions about group projects because I like to be in control of all of my work. I like to get things done and out of the way early, but not everybody in the world is like that. This group project went rather smoothly. Everybody communicated well and did what they were supposed to do. I believe that we completed all of the tasks before the deadlines, so that is another positive. We still have to present on Monday because not everyone in our group was in class today. That is probably one of the only problems our group has ran into, but we will be ready to go on Monday!

This project allowed me to improve some of my professional skills. I was able to improve on interpersonal skills by working with a group. It also taught me how to trust others and delegate group tasks. The project also helped me with my writing skills. I had never written a memo before and it is a lot different than an essay or article. The memo is short and to the point. I had to learn how to summarize and make quick short statements to get my point across. Memos are used in many businesses, so it was very helpful to do one myself. Overall, I thought the project was very beneficial.

Finishing Strong

It is crazy that finals are next week and we are already in the last week of classes. I feel like the semester flew by. With that...
