College was not what I expected and I believe that Covid-19 played a role in that as well. I was ready for the college parties, tail gates, and sporting events, but none of that was allowed last year. No fans were allowed at any sporting events and if you were caught having a party you could be suspended. I found myself going to class and going straight back to my dorm. It took a toll on me mentally. I like to go out and meet new people and socialize at large gatherings, but I wasn't allowed to do any of that. I spent so much time in my dorm that I began to hate Purdue. I felt trapped and just wanted to get out of there and that is when I decided to transfer to PNW.
I am now a sophomore at PNW with hopes of having a good school year. We still have to wear a mask everywhere we go, but I am excited that we are all back on campus. I really hope that there are intramurals this year because my friends and I have been looking to join a team. I have already met a handful of people in the first week of classes and am excited to meet more. I just really hope that the pandemic slows down and life can return to normal. Covid-19 has already affected us enough.
I am sorry to hear about your basketball career and the rest of your high school senior year. I know so many experienced it but it doesn't make it any less important. It must have been hard on you but you seem to be pushing through which is great especially in times like these. I agree with you and hope the pandemic slows down too so we can have a normal school year.
ReplyDeleteHopefully things are better for all of us this year. Things seem to be loosening up. Lets try to enjoy our college experience!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to a lot of what you wrote about, but that does not make it any less tragic. I can't imagine how sad you must have felt by having your regional basketball game taken away from you, on top of everything else. I had a similar experience at Purdue, I was excited for school and freedom, only to find that I hated it at Purdue, maybe due to COVID. Hopefully the rest of your college experience goes much better than last year.
ReplyDeleteI really believe that things will get better over time. but i really hear where your coming from with this this whole thing has been absolutely crazy, and to think about how its been going on for so long still blows my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry that the basketball thing didn't work out, I know how it feels to have something really important taken away. You will always wonder what would have happened and if you would have won or not. I feel awful that happened. I also feel bad that the college at the other purdue didn't work out, I'm not really a partier but I can imagine how it would be to not be able to meet new people when you're an extrovert. I hope things go better for you this school year!
